Jack's Alley
Jack Carter was a beloved member of the Waterbury community with a playful sense of whimsy and an appreciation for his town’s history. As the original owner of Stowe Street Emporium, Jack dreamed of revitalizing the alley next to his store for more than 20 years. After he died a committee of volunteers led by Revitalizing Waterbury, a local non-profit, committed to bringing Jack’s dream to life.
Once finished, the alley will be a lively pedestrian walkway that encourages residents and visitors to stop, linger and appreciate our community. It will be a destination to witness the dynamic nature of change, enjoy art in all its forms, and meditate among peaceful, well-tended gardens.
Waterbury Arts supported the rejuvenation of Jack’s Alley by developing RFPs (Request for Proposals) and helping select artists to contribute to the work.
